 How It Works
Participating associations promote and host recognized events. Competitors using horses which have previously raced in Ontario Quarter Horse races at Ajax Downs or Fort Erie can earn points in recognized events and make eligible the horse’s owner to receive a share of the Program’s $20,000 Post Racing Bonus.
The Bonus is attached to participation and performance in horse sports, particularly speed events such as barrel racing and pole bending.
How to Participate
Owners of an eligible horse must apply annually and provide supporting documentation by November 20th. Required, is a copy of the horse’s AQHA Certificate of Registration that indicates the current owner-of-record (this is the person who will be paid) and also evidence that the horse has raced in Quarter Horse racing in Ontario, from AQHA records and/or official race records from Ajax Downs.
Points
Horses competing in events recognized by the QHRIDP earn points for participating and extra points for where they place. The Post Racing Bonus will be divided among eligible horses based on the total points earned. Bonuses will be calculated based on Total points earned x value per point = bonus payment per horse (to a maximum payment of $1,500 per horse).
For more information, application forms and a list of participating associations, visit the Quarter
Horse section at www.ontariohorseracing.ca, or call the Program Coordinator at (416) 213-1800.
The Post Racing Incentive Program is part of the Quarter Horse Racing Industry Development Program, administered by Ontario Horse Racing.
