“The horses love and trust him 100 percent because he’s so careful never to do anything to lose that trust.”
Dale purchased Storys First Chapter, a full brother to an AQHA Junior World Champion, from Bob and Darian Burt. After training with Cloutier, Storys First Chapter is now with a competitor in Texas.
Quebec,” Dale says of Nemeseis, a 1999 filly out of the A Classic Dash mare named Royalclassic Goddess. Dale again turned a profit when he futuritied Nemeseis to a top 20 placing. After selling the mare, she went on to the NBHA and made the IFR finals multiple times.
“After that, I started to trust myself as a trainer,” Dale says. “That Tres Seis pedigree had been good for me, so I bought another out of Minnesota, and took on several other horses as well. That horse [Tres Bullion] was huge — out of a Bully Bullion/Mr Eye Opener mare. He was 16.3 hands and looked like a draft horse. I futuritied him and he was good, but not phenomenal. He was so huge that he had a problem with his body position. I figured he’d be good within a couple of years and advertised him as such online. Within 48 hours he sold to a girl in New York, and bang- bang — the next year he won the IBRA in the 1D Open and the Youth 1D.”
Dale also successfully trained and campaigned
After Dale’s success with Storys First Chapter, the Burts sent him DTF The Flag Man, who had previously been a pony horse. The horse was a troublemaker, but eventually made it to the 2014 BFA World Show.

Perks N West (Dash For Perks – Miss American Rose, Mr Master Bug) to 1D level. He soon learned the hard way to take a friend’s advice and never refuse a decent amount of money for a horse.
After turning down $25,000 for Perks N West,
the gelding broke his elbow and was sidelined for months. Fortunately, he recovered well and brought a good price when he went to a new owner in 2012.
BRANCHING OUT
Along with being a talented rider and trainer, according to Molly Powell, Dale’s natural talents include being very ambitious,
a hard worker and an outstanding manager. “He has a detail mentality and can think to the future and find ways to make things happen,” she says. “And, he’s sensitive to the needs of others. People are very at ease with him.”
In 2011, those qualities led Dale to launch the DC Show, the biggest barrel futurity in Quebec, held at Ecurie 5-5-5 (Barn 5-5-5 in
English) in Drummondville where he lives
and has trained since that year. With the goal
of helping Quebec competitors improve their skills, he recruited well-known barrel racers such as Molly Powell, Danyelle Campbell and Sue Smith to put on clinics at his show.
“When I sold Perks N West, I went to visit Bob and Darian to look at one of their horses,” Dale says. While there, he bought Storys First Chapter, out of Dash Ta Fame mare HMB Soon Tobe Famous and by Story Teller Seis — who’s a full brother to Three Folly Six, an AQHA Junior World Champion. Storys First Chapter is now with a competitor in Texas. “I believe Dale is a great trainer and I believe the horses he trains for me are going to ‘show up,’” says Darian.
Dale adds, “While I was in Utah, we talked about my program and the Burts really believed in me. I believed in my show, so they gave me a breeding to Dash Ta Fame for my show.”
