“He picked out this mare,” said Gomez. “He then said, ‘Hey, how about the stallion?’ I said, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll pay everything.’ I paid for the embryo. I paid the breeding (to the stal- lion Kiddy Up) and there she came. I’m happy and this night I’ll never forget.”
Gomez bred and trained This Boogie Fires, who ran third in the 2011 Kindergarten Futurity-G1. The mare has produced four starters, all winners.
Gomez-trained Moonie Blues (Freighttrain B-Stuckonafeeling) ran second with Eduardo Nicasio in the irons. Lisa Anderson bred and owns the filly, who captured the 2017 Wild West Futurity.
Jesus Ayala rode Call Me Cole (Corona Cartel-Little Surfer) to third for trainer Mike Robbins and owner Reliance Ranches, LLC. Call Me Cole in his previous six starts had won three times with one second and one third.
