First Down Dash Handicap
KATIES EASY MOVES
by Tracy Gantz
Katies Easy Moves had a rough time in his first two Los Alamitos starts of 2017, but things went his way in the First Down Dash Handicap on Dec.
9, and he responded with a splendid effort. Ridden by Cesar DeAlba, Katies Easy Moves
popped out of the 4-gate on top and never relin- quished the lead. Chicks Fayvorite tried to rally late in the 400 yards, but Katies Easy Moves defeated him by 1/2-length in :19.777. The winner’s share pushed the geldings earnings to $89,460 with a race record of 23-12(3)-2(2)-4(2).
Monty Arrossa trains Katies Easy Moves for O-So Smart LLC. In 2016 at Los Alamitos, Katies Easy Moves ran second in two stakes. When trained by Jessica Hadley, the gelding set two New Track Records at 330 and 350 yards and won the 2015 Bitterroot Juvenile Consolation and 2016 Western States Breeders’ Derby.
In his two previous 2017 Los Alamitos starts, Katies Easy Moves finished 4th behind World Champion Heza Dasha Fire in the Robert L. Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship-G1. Katies Easy Moves then was bumped in the Z. Wayne Griffin Directors Trials and finished 5th.

A POLITICAL LADY
by Michael Cusortelli
APolitical Lady, a homebred owned by Parsons Ranch of Sanger, California, parlayed a sharp break from her rail post position into a victory in the $30,000 Los Alamitos Juvenile Invitational on Dec. 17.
Ridden by Cody Jensen for trainer Chris O’Dell, A Political Lady was out on the lead and had a 1/2-length margin at the first call. Twenty One Gunz was coming up strong on the outside, but A Political Lady held on and defeated the gelding by
a nose in :20.289. The filly returned a $5.40 win mutuel as the 17-10 favorite in a field of eight two year olds.
Raced exclusively in California, A Political Lady has now won two of nine starts, and the $16,500 winner’s share of the purse from her first stakes win increased her total bankroll to $134,907.
A Political Lady’s two-year-old resume includes a third place finish in the $939,000 Golden State Million Futurity-G1 on Nov. 5.
A Political Lady was coming off of a second- place finish, 1 1/4-lengths behind Matilda Czech, in her Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity-G1 trial on Nov. 26.
