Horse after winning four races and finishing in the top three an additional three times at the $10,000 and $15,000 level in 2007. Five-time stakes-placed Bringnucandyandroses (Royal Evening Snow-Sweet Candy Rose, First Down Dash) earned an AQHA Superior Racehorse title in 2008 and has won 11 of 34 races with earnings of more than $128,000.
Of their homebreds, Pantherinthefastlane (Panther Mountain-Sheza Neon Rose, Takin On The Cash) stands out as their shining star thus far. The 2008 mare earned $127,973
on the track as a 2- and 3-year-old. In 2010, she was a finalist in two Grade 1 futurities
in Louisiana. Last year, she won the Treme Derby at Fair Grounds and finished third in four other stakes races, garnering the AQHA East Regional 3-Year-Old Filly High-Point
title. She was also the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association 2011 Champion 3-Year- Old Filly. Little Bit Trashy (Game Patriot-Della Loom, Streakin La Jolla), another homebred, earned $267,960 last year while winning
the Lee Berwick Memorial Louisiana-Bred Futurity-RG1 and qualifying for two other graded stakes.
In all, 2011 was a fantastic year for the Loups, who were named Champion Breeders by the LQHBA. It was quite an honor for the couple, and gives credence to the quality of their small but powerful breeding program. The Loups have already bred a Grade 1 finalist in 2012, as Heza Spunky Monkey (Heza Fash Dash-China Beach Babe, Chicks Beduino) was a finalist in the Mardi Gras Futurity for owner/ trainer Brenda Foster.
A new FAcet
In 2009 the Loups partnered with Idaho owner Joe Maxwell in the Mr Jess Perry son Fast Prize Dash. The 2006 stallion stands with Dr. Eddie Cramer at the Louisiana Center for Equine Reproduction at Opelousas.
“We bred 53 his first crop and 45–50 each year since, and we’re very pleased with them,” Wade said. “We were wanting a good stallion prospect for our mares and he’s an outstanding individual. His conformation is extremely good.
“His yearlings seem to be very intelligent and athletic,” Wade added of the young stal- lion. “They’re just good babies—very easy to handle, and we love them.”
That love for all their horses forms the base for their small—but highly successful—race- horse operation.
“We try to stick around the successful people and learn from them.”
