In 2013, a look at the top 100 million dollar sires showed that Corona Cartel, by First Down Dash, was showing that he was in the process of starting another branch of the Three Bars sire line. He was the sire of three sons that were on the top 100. They were PYC Paint Your Wagon (#53), Southern Cartel (#82) and Teller Cartel (#87).
Now let’s move forward to 2015 and see what is happening in the top 50 million dollar sires. The Three Bars sire line still holds three of the top five places on the list. They are First Down Dash (#1), Corona Cartel (#2) and Dash For Cash (#4).
In 2013, the list shows that Walk Thru Fire was #21 on the list and is now #7. He has finished in the top 10 in the annual sire list of money winners every year since 2009 and was the leading sire in 2011 and 2014.
The next big move comes from PYC Paint Your Wagon. He was #53 on this list in 2013 and moved to #16 on the list in 2015. The move comes from the fact that he was in the top five of the annual leading sire list of money earners every year since 2011, including being the leading sire of 2012 and 2015.
Valiant Hero, by First Down Dash was the #2 first crop sire in 2011 with earnings of $1,218,767. He was #25 on the general sire list that year. He has finished in the top ten on the leading money earning sire list every year since. He is a new member of the million dollar sire list and is now #33 in the top 50 sire list with earnings of $12,781,580. His fifth crop to race came in 2015.
The next new entry into the top 50 list is FDD Dynasty, by First Down Dash. This stallion is now #49 on the list and climbing with earnings of $10,394,576. Annually, he has been a top ten sire since 2012. His fifth crop to race came in 2015.
It appears that the Three Bars sire line is holding its own through the Dash For Cash branch of the sire line. We see that 15 of the top thirty money earning sires for 2015 are
a sire line descendant of Three Bars through First Down Dash, and it looks like Corona Cartel may just be starting his own branch of the Three Bars sire line.
When we look at the leading sires for 2015, we find an interesting situation. We see that six of the 30 are either Mr Jess
Perry or one of his sons. Mr Jess Perry and his sons represent the Top Deck sire line.
So, next year we will go back to the million dollar sires and see what is going on in the Top Deck sire line. We could be looking
at a surge in this famous sire line. The race between Three Bars and Top Deck continues producing good racehorses.
The Three Bars sire line is holding its own through the Dash For Cash branch, with 15 of the top 30 money earning sires of 2015 being descendants of Three Bars through Dash For Cash son First Down Dash. Sires in the top 50 million dollar sires that are sire-line descendants of Three Bars through First Down Dash include Corona Cartel, Walk Thru Fire, Royal Quick Dash, Dash Ta Fame, Stoli, Okey Dokey Dale, Dashin Bye, Fishers Dash, First To Shine, and Hawkinson.
