The 2015 Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders’ Association Yearling Sale recorded
a slight reduction in figures from last year. Preliminary results for the sale, which was held Aug. 7-8 at the Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, Louisiana, report 426 yearlings sold for $4,960,700, compared to 384 yearlings sold last year for $4,953,400. The average decreased slightly to $11,645, and the $7,000 median was a slight drop from 2014.
“We really appreciate our consignors and buyers and we congratulate them on another successful yearling sale,” LQHBA Executive Director Tony Patterson stated.
Two yearlings topped six figures, includ- ing $135,000 high seller Hez For Real (Heza Fast Dash-Real Or Imagined, Dash For Cash). Consigned by Danny Trahan Quarter Horses, Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent, and purchased by Watson Land & Cattle Co., the sorrel colt is a full brother to multiple stakes winner Unrealistic and a half-brother to four other stakes winners.
The second-highest seller at $102,000 was Deal In A Lady (Oak Tree Special-Dealafly, Strawfly Special), consigned by SKT Farms, Inc., Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent and purchased by Randy King. The brown filly
is half-sister to G1 winner Dealagame and G3 winner/New Track Record setter Rocky Mountain Fly.
