                                   Pink Buckle Barrel Race
The inaugural Pink Buckle Barrel Race, with a $1,020,000 payout, was held Oct. 5-7 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, OK. The event was a cooperative effort of the owners
of Pink Buckle stallions and was open to horses sired by these stallions. The winner
of the Futurity was French Goodbye (The Goodbye Lane-Two Fools Gold, Frenchmans Guy), ridden by Vauna Walker for owner Dino Chouest. The 4-year-old gelding was also
the Open Average winner. In total, French Goodbye earned $98,281 for his owner, $5,718 for breeders Randy and Vauna Walker, and a sire payout of $11,563. The winner of the $50,000 Amateur Futurity side-pot was 5-year-old mare Slingshot Lane (The Goodbye Lane-SKS Running Faucet, Diamond Faucet) under Marcie Wilson for owners Mark and Linda Jarvis, with total winnings of $12,876, including breeder and stallion awards. The winner of the $20,000 Youth Incentive for 14 year olds and under, earning a total of $5,100, was VF Mr Ed (Eddie Stinson-Sleek Glass, Image Of Greatness) under Dylan Dobbs
for owners Travis and Johnna Dobbs. French Goodbye’s owner won a year’s use of a trailer, and additional awards at the event included saddles, buckles, spurs, Yeti coolers, custom knives, hats and boots, and much more.
2018 Barrel Horse of the Year Awards
The AQHA and PRCAA honor outstanding Quarter Horses each year at the annual PRCA Awards Banquet in Las Vegas on Dec. 5 prior to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, with vot- ing concluded Oct. 5. The owner of the Horse of the Year in each category will receive $5,000 and a bronze trophy; second will receive $3,000; and third $2,000. aka Sister, ridden by Hailey Kinsel for owners Dan and Leslie Kinsel was named the Horse
of the Year. Finishing second in the voting was KN Fabs Gift Of Fame (Frenchmans Fabulous- Mistys Dash Of Fame, Dash Ta Fame), aka
JLo, ridden by Ivy Conrado for owners Kenny Nichols and James Barron. Rafter W Minnie Reba (KS Cash N Fame-Espuela Roan, Blue Light Ike), aka Sister, who was last year’s Horse of the Year, was third for rider Nellie Miller amd owner Sam Williams.
Tibbs Foundation Honors Frenchmans Guy, South Dakota Horsemen
The Casey Tibbs Foundation honored Frenchmans Guy as their Rodeo Animal Athlete at the 29th annual Casey Tibbs Foundation Tribute dinner on Nov. 3. Frenchmans Guy, 31, is the sire of multiple qualifiers to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, numerous Champions, and over
$11 million in earners. He resides at Bill and Deb Myers ranch in St. Onge, South Dakota. Others recognized at the event include Rodeo Cowgirl Kristi Lensegrav- Birkeland, Rodeo Cowboy Great Jake Rinehart, Past Rodeo Great Steve Mowry, and Rodeo Promoter Raymond Sutton Sr. The Casey Tibbs Foundation is dedicated to preserving rodeo heritage in South Dakota and is named after the 1951 and 1955 World All-Around Cowboy Champion.

3 at the age of 75.
She won numerous

M-SR A Championship
during her rodeo
career starting in the
1960’s. She also won
several Prairie Circuit
Championships. June
qualified to the NFR in 2005 on Sparky Impression as well as the first RFD TV’s “The American” rodeo on a home raise horse named “Tallboy.” Her other accomplishments include championships in the NBHA, BBR and the NE-4d associations along with many more. During the last few years, she had been a men- tor for some of the next generation of rodeo stars. She is survived by her husband, Donnell, her children and many other family members and friends.

Cowboy Symposium At Ruidoso Downs
The 29th annual Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium was held at Ruidoso Downs Oct. 11-14. This year, the event emphasis was on education about farm ani- mals, and included cooking demonstrations, a kid’s rodeo, horsemanship demonstrations, and the internationally recognized Chuck Wagon Cookoff. Firewater Ta Fame Dies
Firewater Ta Fame (Dash Ta Fame- Fashion Star Flit, Fire Water Flit) died on July 1 after suffering from colic. The 2003 stallion was a WPRA money earner and was third in the Greg Olson Memorial Open and fourth in the Old Fort Days Futurity. Firewater Ta Fame, aka Stitch, is the sire of nearly $1 million in earners.
Sierra Hall Of Fame Dies
Sierra Hall Of Fame (Dash Ta Fame-La Ganadora TB, Pirates Bounty), aka Eagle, was laid to rest the beginning of Sept. following an injury while competing. The 2005 gelding was a money earner on the track, making two starts at Los Alamitos, before moving to the barrels. He was a National Finals Rodeo qualifier with several International Indian Rodeo World Champion titles. Sierra Hall Of Fame earned an estimated $500,000 during his career.
