CM Got Overserved powered home to an impressive one-length score in the $30,900 Far West Futurity on Dec. 19 at
Portland Meadows. It was the gelding’s third stakes attempt and his first stakes win.
Trained by Nick Lowe, CM Got Overserved started his career with a runner-up effort in a trial to the Firecracker Futurity at Grants Pass, then finished fourth in the finals. After a three-month break,
he returned to win a trial to
the Baxter Andruss Oregon-
Bred Futurity, where he was
third in the finals.
Lining up in the
Dec. 5 trials for the Far
West Futurity, CM Got Overserved dominated his heat by 1 3/4 lengths and was easily the fastest qualifier.
Sent off as the 5/2 favor- ite in the Far West finals, CM Got Overserved broke sharply
under jockey Joe Crispin and flew to the early lead. He daylighted the field early and cruised home to a one-length win in :20.010. The $12,360 winner’s share of the purse increased his lifetime earnings to $22,848.
“He’s just so professional out of the gate,” said Crispin. “I think he’s just learning how to run, and a few starts back it’s like the lights came on and now he’s loving it.”
CM Got Overserved is owned by his breeder, Randy Dickerson, of Vancoucer, Washington. Dickerson also bred and owned the gelding’s dam, Mi Fames A Dandy, who won three of 18 starts and was a finalist in the 2003 Far West Futurity-RG3. All three of her foals are starters, and include track record setter Yankee Doodle Dandi.
“He’s the most profes- sional two-year-old I’ve ever
had,” said Lowe, who has been training horses for over two decades. “He’s just not making any mistakes and leaves there so well.”
Dean Frey owns and trains runner-up The Arrogant One (FDD Dynasty-Oh So Arrogant). Cody Jensen rode the gelding, who was fifth in the Bank of America AQHA Challenge Juvenile Championship-G2.
Cool Blue Corona (Jess Louisiana Blue- Corona Lil) was third for owners Rheta and Steve Mote and trainer Scott Raley. Jose Zunino rode the filly.
Rounding out the field were Deniro (Desirio-Priscilla Ione), Brandens Bustlinbooty (Spanish Boot-Mongoose Chick), Fullafun (Ocean Runaway-Western Love-TB), Long Live Cowgirls (Tres Seis-One Fast Trick), and Booken (Separatist-Go Go Getter). Eck Hardy and Ez Seis Me were scratched.
