Dear Members,
There are a couple of new faces at our
office. Since my last letter, we have hired Ernestine Aragon to replace me as the Association’s Registrar. She is new to our industry so be sure to introduce yourself when calling or coming by the office. We are gearing up for our end of the year rush so please be patient. As long as you come by the office or postmark your registrations no later than Dec. 31 you can get your foals in before they age and the fee goes
up on Jan. 1.
Our second new employee is Paulette
Taylor. She began working as a volunteer back in June, but is now our part-time employee. Paulette is an owner and breeder of racehorses so she has a good understanding of how everything should work. She is in charge of the 10% Track Breeder Awards as well as keeping track of the stallions in our registry. Don’t forget to return your completed EVA Booster forms to her! Paulette is also our magazine coordinator. It is such a relief to finally have a full staff for the first time since last January. The three of us are all in training and learning our new jobs but things are starting to come together.
At the time of this letter, New Mexico Cup day at Zia Park has not yet run. I am looking forward to being at Zia Park on Nov. 4 and hope to be able to visit with many of you while I am there. I would like to congratulate all of the connections to the winners of each of the 12 New Mexico
Bred stakes races on that day. Although
the editorial deadline for this issue of
our magazine is Oct. 31, Speedhorse has graciously extended the deadline to include New Mexico Cup Day race stories in this issue. There will be over $2 million paid out in purse money exclusively going to our New Mexico Breds. I can’t think of a better way to start off the holiday season!
Please mark your calendars to attend our Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet that will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Albuquerque located at Louisiana and
I-40 on Thursday, January 24, 2019. The meeting will start at 1:00 p.m. and the evening festivities will start with a no host cocktail hour at 6:00 p.m. and dinner at 7:00 p.m.
Good Luck and Happy Holidays! I hope to see you at the races!
