BROODMARES IN FOAL
TO LEAVE THE STATE OF NM TO PARTICIPATE IN A SALE
This form must be submitted to the New Mexico Horse Breeders Association BEFORE the Broodmare, Donor Mare or the Recipient Mare leaves the State of New Mexico.
If a New Mexico Broodmare, in foal to a New Mexico Stallion, is consigned to an advertised sale out of the state, she may leave the state of New Mexico seven days prior to the start of the sale, but must return to New Mexico no later than seven days after the completion of the sale, for the foal she is carrying to maintain eligibility for New Mexico Bred accreditation.
If the foal is an Embryo Transfer, both the Donor Mare and Recipient Mare are required to be registered with the New Mexico Horse Breeders Association and remain in the State of New Mexico unless leaving for a short time to participate in a sale and must have this form on file. Either the Donor Mare or the Recipient mare, whichever is leaving the State of New Mexico must return to New Mexico within seven days after the completion of the sale. If either mare does not return to New Mexico, the foal’s eligibility will be voided.
The seller or buyer must notify the New Mexico Horse Breeders Association on the status of the broodmare in foal within seven days after the completion of the sale for the foal she is carrying to maintain eligibility for accreditation.
