SCOTT WELLS
Spending his lifetime in the horse racing industry, Scott Wells began accompanying his father, Ted, to Ruidoso Downs in 1960. In
the early ‘70’s, Scott was an assistant trainer to legends such as D. Wayne Lukas, Jack Van Berg and Richard Hazelton. In 1990, Wells began working in race management at Remington Park and soon after, accepted a position as assistant general manager at Hollywood Park. He then accepted a general manager position at Ruidoso Downs, followed by Mexico City and Uruguay. In 2004, Well went back to Remington Park as general manager and shortly after accepted the same position at Lone Star Park. He held both positions until his recent retirement in 2021.
A gifted writer, Scott has been a contributor to Speedhorse Magazine and collaborated with them on the publication of The Nicodemus Era.
