DARK NME

Tykhe, sometimes spelled Tyche, was the Greek goddess of fortune. Willie and Nancy Garcia of Hebbronville, Texas, thought that might be a good name for their racing stable to bring them luck, and it certainly has. They own an undefeated phenomenon named Dark NME, who most recently demolished her competition in the July 16 Rainbow Futurity-G1 at Ruidoso Downs.
The race was over as soon as the gate opened. Dark NME rocketed to the lead for jockey Francisco Calderon and kept widening her advantage. She hit the wire 3 1/2-lengths ahead of her nearest competitor, and her time of :19.028 for 400 yards broke World Champion Empressum’s track record of :19.149, set in 2021.
“We’ve had a great time with her,” said Willie. “The best thing is she pulls up really good a day later. She got back to the barn and started eating as soon as she got back.”
Santos Carrizales Jr. trains Dark NME and had a super weekend at Ruidoso. The
Dark NME sets a New Track Record winning the $1,000,000 Rainbow Futurity July 16 under jockey Francisco Calderon at Ruidoso Downs.
