First Payment Due for 2023 Texas Hero Futurity
With $50,000 added plus $15,000 to accredited Texas-bred Paint Horses, the Texas Hero Futurity is certain to lure the fastest Paints and Appaloosas to Lone Star Park later this year. Formerly known as the Lone Star Futurity, the trials will be held on November 3, with the finals on November 24 at the Grand Prairie, Texas, track. The first nomination payment of $250 is due August 15. Late nominations will be accepted. For more information, visit

$35K Added to the Karen Utecht Memorial Race

With a run as smooth as ice, Kim Kar Dashin burned through the barrel pattern on
July 8 at the 2023 APHA World Championship
Show’s Paint Barrel Racing Incentive
Program Sweepstakes, laying claim to the 1D championship with a time of:17.063. Piloted by Jasarra Bace of Duncan, Oklahoma, the 2016 buckskin mare by Dashin Diesel and out of Aces Power earned a check worth $2,934.
But with nearly $53,000 up for grabs over 5Ds—including bonuses for futurity and Texas- bred horses—that wasn’t the biggest paycheck of the event, which drew 90 entries. A Tru Honor and Teresa Watson were second in the 2D Open and first in the 1D futurity incentive, earning a total of $4,231.50. A Tru Honor is a 2019 black tobiano mare by Tru Oakley and out of Sheza Dash N Jet (QH).
