A Tres Of Sign, a 2017 filly bred by The
Mixer Ranch and also trained by Jason Olmstead, started her career by running second in her Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity trial, finishing the G1 final fourth. She then ran second in her trial for the Gopher State Futurity and in the Valley Junction Futurity-G3. At three, she ran second in her trial for the Remington Park Derby.
Along with Aqua Flash, Tom names three of his current runners as his all-time best: Mrs KVN (KVN Corona-Little Surfer, First Down Dash), Kool N Foxy (One Famous Eagle-Kool Fire, Walk Thru Fire) and Sheza Famous Candy (One Famous Eagle-Send Me Special, Oak Tree Special).
Three-year-old Mrs KVN, bred by McColee Land & Livestock LLC, has won twice, ran second four times and third once, earning $145,426. After breaking her maiden her first

out, the Shawna Manriquez-trained filly ran third in her All American Futurity trial and second in her Black Gold Fillies Futurity trial, then came back at three to win the $270,300 Heritage Place Oaks on June 3, 2023.
Kool N Foxy, also a 2020 filly bred by Jerry Cate and trained by Shawna Manriquez, won her Remington Park Oklahoma Futurity trial her first out, then ran second in her Heritage Place Futurity trial and Prairie Meadows Gold Futurity trial. She then won the Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge and ran fourth in the
AQHA Juvenile Challenge Championship-G2 at Horseshoe Indianapolis. At three, she won her trial and the final for the Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Oaks, then ran fourth in the Jack Brooks Stakes-RG3. Her career earnings total $126,459 with four firsts from 10 starts.
With just three races under her belt, 2-year-old filly Sheza Famous Candy has won two with $68,444. She broke her maiden her first out, then qualified for the $1.2 million Heritage Place Futurity, where she ran seventh. “She looks really good, too,” Tom says. “So far this year, at least one of my horses has qualified for every stakes race in Iowa.”
“Tom has had some very nice horses with me as well as with some of his other trainers,” says Jason Olmstead. “No longer than he’s been in the racehorse world, he’s been pretty fortunate.”
In addition to Jason and Shawna, Tom’s trainer roster includes Manny Campos, Tyler Stein, Tony Jones, and Kurt Wessel. “We run
at Remington early in spring, then come to Iowa,” Tom says. “We used to go to Canterbury but since Iowa went to a mixed meet, we just run most of them in our home state. Some years we’ve run at Ruidoso, too, and in Florida, Colorado, Arizona, and Louisiana.”
