In addition to his recent stakes tally, Colby James captured last year’s Jimmy Drake Stakes at Sunray Park, and in 2019 at two he won the Mountain Top New Mexico Quarter Horse Futurity-RG2 at Ruidoso Downs and finished second in the New Mexican Spring Futurity-G2 at Sunland Park.
Bred by MJ Farms, Colby James, a 5-year- old sorrel gelding, is produced from the Blushing Bug mare Sandy June Bug.

Sr., just missed. The graded stakes winner rebounded after being eliminated at the
break against Colby James in his previous start in the Red or Green Handicap. Marcus Medallion finished second in the Zia Park Championship-G1 at Zia Park in his final start of 2021. The 9-year-old sorrel gelding was bred by Carl Jason Bailey.
Wells and Gonzales also sent out third-place finisher Bigg Dee (Big Daddy Cartel-Miss Woody Dee). Piloted by Mario Delgado, Bigg Dee showed the way early and held on stubbornly to secure the show
spot. The multiple stakes-winning 4-year- old gelding, like the winner, was bred by MJ Farms.
