community

Outdoor Ed is a three-day overnight trip and one of many school highlights for Timber Trail Elementary (TTE) fth graders. This year Stone Canyon Outdoor Education virtually brought outdoor adventure to students, including the traditional barn dance with links to the “Chicken Dance” and the “Cha-Cha” along with camp re stories and s’mores.
Although there was disappointment
not sharing these events with fellow classmates, students enjoyed the activities and camp fun with their families.

Parenting is a rewarding job that can come with sleepless nights. Which school to enroll a child in is one of many decisions that can keep parents awake. Touring community schools is the best way to determine if a school is right for a student. A tour helps parents identify
a school’s curriculum, environment, and how communication occurs among the students, teachers, administrators and parents. Parents should feel the school of choice offers their child a safe and inspiring environment.
The Douglas County School District (DCSD) offers prospective parents a variety of options to tour and learn more about a particular school, including those schools located in Castle Pines.
American Academy Charter School is now offering KindiePrep through eighth grade virtual tours. Parents can
attend any of the scheduled presentations, as the information is the same regardless of campus location. Interested families should RSVP to any of the dates in
June at https://form.jotform.com/aak8/ VirtualProspectiveParentRSVP. Zoom meeting information will be sent to registered families one day prior to the virtual presentation.
DCS Montessori primary and elementary school tours offer information about the school and provide an understanding
of the Montessori philosophy, the foundation of DCS Montessori curriculum. Interested families can view short video tours of a primary classroom, lower
and upper elementary classrooms and playgrounds at www.dcsmontessori.org/ tour. Physical school tours are scheduled to begin in early September. To schedule an in-person tour, visit www.dcsmontessori. org/tour.
New families or families looking to open enroll
at Timber Trail
Elementary and
Buffalo Ridge Elementary are encouraged to email
questions and interest directly to school of cials. School contact information is available at https://buffaloridgek5.org and https://tte.dcsdk12.org/.
Please note, the DCSD remains closed at this time. Visit school websites for current updates.
