Coaching Staff
The 2017 Ponderosa High School volleyball coaching staff from left to right: Jason Anderson, Julia Taylor, Deb Barnes, Zoie Daniels and Jenny Bellairs.
In her second year of coaching at Ponderosa High School and her 15th year of coaching volleyball, Ponderosa Varsity Head Coach Deb Barnes (pictured above center) leads the program with strength and compassion. “My coaching philosophy
is to develop an athlete with sportsmanship, competitiveness, confidence, respect for teammates and passion for the sport,” said Barnes. “I want to provide an opportunity for growth – both on and off the court so that
these young ladies will take with them the life lessons they learn throughout the season.”
In addition to coaching volleyball, Barnes works full time as a health administrator. She lives in Parker and enjoys spending time with her two sons, Josh (24) and Jordan (23). She and Varsity Assistant Coach Julia Taylor have been coaching together for four years.
Coach Taylor is an occupational therapist for
the Douglas County School District and lives in
Highlands Ranch with her husband and two cats.
She played volleyball competitively for 12 years and says she is “reliving her high school years” coaching the team and watching the girls grow into the adults they are when they leave the program.
Although ever with their eyes on the prize, Coaches Taylor and Barnes know how to have fun, and they understand there is far more to the game of volleyball than just the score.
