The Christmas carol“Sti e Nacht” 24 (Silent Night) was rst performed on Christmas Eve 1818 at
St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf in the Austrian Empire. The carol was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber with lyrics that had been written in 1816 by Father Joseph Mohr.
