Matthew began his scouting adventure when he joined Troop 70 in October 2020 and earned his First Class Rank in June 2021. Matthew has served his Troop as Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader.
Matthew has earned 21 Merit Badges and has attended summer camp at Camp Shands and Camp Blanding.
Matthew’s Eagle Project was the refurbishment of the Veteran’s Flag Staff at the American Legion Post in Interlachen. The flagpole was not usable. He stabilized, refinished, and restrung it with new flags for the veterans as well as installed landscaping around the area. At the end of the project, he held a dedication ceremony involving veterans from the post.
Matthew is a senior at Providence Christian Academy where he is a member of the Basketball Team and the Gaming Club. He serves as a teacher’s aide for teachers in kindergarten through fifth grade and he also actively serves at his church. After graduating, Matthew plans to either attend the University of Florida to pursue a degree that will help him become a Wildlife Biologist for the U.S. Forest Service or enlist in the Military and then possibly become a Firefighter. Matthew’s ultimate life ambition is to serve Christ.
