   It first appears on a petition sent on June 15, 1822 to U.S. Secretary of State John Quincy Adams, asking that Jacksonville be named a port of entry. The city is named for Andrew Jackson, military governor of the Florida Territory and eventual President of the United States.
                                                          Hmmm, the City of Jacksonville was actually named after Andrew Jackson, so he must be Lebanese ...just as I’ve always thought.
