for lasting economic and community infrastructure, for good teachers and expert physicians, for kindergarten programs and ultrasound machines, for simple things like a good meal, and complicated things like cleft-lip surgery, and everything in between. In doing so, we recognized the salient fact of each Palestinian’s humanity as being no different than the humanity of any person anywhere else in the world. Their dreams were equally powerful, their needs the same.
For the past 45 years, UPA has remained nimble, visionary, and dedicated. We may not broker
international accords, but these are our superpowers. And we bring the ineffable quality of sumūd to our work in spades. It has never been easy to do this work. But it has always been a privilege and remains so today.
Our courage and determination arise from bearing witness to the daily commitment that our people make to themselves, to their communities, and to their country. The best we can do is to meet them exactly where they are: with hope, with courage, with our promise to walk beside them. We are, as they are: here to stay.
