ROBERT FREDERICK SCHLEGAL, JR. P.E., Colonel, U.S. Army, Retired
A native of Yonkers, New York, Bob attended New York University in the Bronx where he earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree in 1967. The same day, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant, Ordnance Corps, U.S. Army Reserve.
Bob commenced a 36-year career with Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL) in Melville, NY, from which he retired in 2003 as Managing Engineer, having worked on numerous public safety issues, including overseeing UL’s in-plant inspection staff in some 80 countries worldwide.
Bob earned an M.S. in Management Engineering in 1973 and Professional Engineer (PE) and CPSM (Certified Product Safety Manager) certifications along the way in addition to lecturing and presenting technical papers in various countries.
As a Mason, Bob has led a number of Masonic bodies.
Bob is presently the National Scouting Chairman (BSA and GSUSA) for Military Order of the World Wars and oversees that program nationally at all 75 chapters.
He belongs to many military and veterans organizations, including the VFW, MOFW, VVA, American Legion, etc.
