                                  Building Our Endowment
An Important Step for the Future
In recognition of our 35th anniversary, Communities In Schools of Jacksonville has embarked on an ambitious $3.5 million fundraising campaign to establish The Leon Baxton Legacy Fund.
No one better embodies the spirit and mission of CIS than Leon, making it only fitting that this new fund honors his dedication and lifelong work. This endowment represents an important step in positioning our organization for the future.
An endowment is a vital financial resource for any nonprofit, and The Leon Baxton Legacy Fund will provide reliable, long- term funding to support the work we do.
This fund will be managed by The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida and be strategically invested to accomplish the desired returns. Annual proceeds from the endowment
will help us each year in advancing programs and services for students. The Leon Baxton Legacy Fund will support programs, services and initiatives such as:
INNOVATION
CIS always strives to understand and rapidly respond to the needs of the community. The fund will enable the organization to invest in new innovative initiatives to better serve students and families.
ENHANCED SERVICES
CIS remains committed to serving as many students and families as possible. We currently support only 10% of students in Duval County Public Schools. The fund will allow us to expand current programs and reach more students.
SUSTAINABILITY
CIS depends on varied funding sources each year, and these funds are often subject to uncertainty due to economic factors and other changes. Having a consistent, annual income stream from the new endowment will strengthen the sustainability of the organization.
