Fetal Facial Abnormalities:
Holoprosencephaly & Fetal Facial
Abnormalities
▪ Whenever any form of holoprosencephaly is suspected, a thorough facial evaluation should be performed to evaluate for the associated facial abnormalities that often accompany this unfortunate brain malformation.
▪ Among the list of facial abnormalities that have been linked with holoprosencephaly are hypotelorism, cebocephaly, ethmocephaly, cyclopia, and cleft lip with or without cleft palate.
