  THE SUPERIOR VENA CAVA AND UPPER EXTREMITY VENOUS SYSTEM
The dorsal digital veins unite to form the dorsal meta- carpal veins, which end in a venous network on the back of the hand. The radial part of the network
drains into the cephalic vein, and the ulnar part of the network drains into the basilic vein. The palmar digi- tal veins flow over the palmar surface of the wrist and help form the medial antebrachial veins (Fig. 1-13).
The veins of the arm have both superficial and deep components similar to the lower extremities.
