the dam of Friar Rock. The dam of Man O’ War was Mahubah by Rock Sand. This gives Eight Thirty a breeding pattern of 3x5 to Rock Sand and a breeding pattern of 3x5 to Fairy Gold. This is linebreeding to the cross of Rock Sand and Fairy Gold.
Blue One has an interesting linebreeding pattern in her pedigree through Quickly and Eight Thirty. Stephanie, the dam of Quickly carries
a cross of The Tetrarch and Rock Sand. Eight Thirty carries a cross of Rock Sand on The Tetrarch. Thus, we have a breeding pattern to these two stallions of 4x4 to both. This is also a return the blood breeding pattern, which shows the linebreeding coming to the foal through its mother and paternal grandmother.
White Favor is the dam of One Bell, and she is sired by Sir Gallahad by Teddy and out of Plucky Liege by Spearmint. This gives Azure Te a breeding pattern of 3x3 to Sir Gallahad.
Our look at the pedigree of Azure Te doesn’t tell us exactly what Jay Pumphrey saw in this new outcross for the racing American Quarter Horse. But we have a pretty good idea of at least some of what he saw. So, next month we will delve into the foals of Azure Te and the mares he was bred to that allowed him to become a successful sire and an AQHA Hall of Fame member.
Domino appears in the pedigrees of many leading Quarter Horses.
The sire of Eight Thirty was Pilate, a son of Friar Rock by Rock Sand. The dam of Friar Rock is Fairy Gold by Bend Or. The dam of Pilate was Herodias by The Tetrarch by Roi Herode, and he was out of Vahren by Bona Vista by Bend Or. The
dam of Eight Thirty was Dinner Time by High Time, the intensely inbred Domino stallion that has a breeding pattern of 3x3x2 to Domino. The dam of Dinner Time was Seaplane by Man O’ War by Fair Play by Hasting and out of Fairy Gold,
Man O’ War, shown winning the Dwyer Stakes at old Aqueduct in 1920.
