Piqua: Main Street, looking north
Left: When the ood hit, the 1899 Piqua National Bank & Trust Company building – located next to the Fort Piqua Hotel at Main and High streets – was not damaged extensively. The Spot, on the right in the 1913 photo, was a famous Piqua eatery.
Right: Piqua’s Main Street continues to be a vibrant place to shop and play. Today, a jewelry store is on
the ground oor of the 1899 building. An active downtown business association promotes many free public events every year, drawing shoppers and visitors to the area. In 2012, slightly north of the former bank, visitors take in the Main Street Car Show and listen to the live band playing oldies for the “Dancing in the Moonlight” event.
