Below: The Great Miami River at Troy grew from its normal width of approximately 300 feet to a width of approximately 1,500 feet during the Great Flood of 1913. From the north side of the river, near the foot of the Market Street Bridge, the safety of the Miami County Courthouse on the opposite side was unreachable.
