In speaking with one of the event’s organizers, Gloria Chabot, a close friend of Carl’s, she said “It took a village to make this happen and an outpouring of love and respect for Carl to make it the event that it became. We had Carl's family, his culinary family, his BBQ family, his watch family, his childhood friends, his radio family, all present at Pig Beach. Some people knew Carl personally, some only via social media, it didn't matter, because when the night ended and we all said goodbye, we were one family honoring the passing of Carl Ruiz.”
