REENGAGE WITH OPTA Happy New Year! We had our first executive committee meeting last week and I think any word that best describes our our meeting is it it it starts with RE We are excited to restart our our annual in-person conference with with a a a a a a fantastic group of presenters! We will resume our our PACcy hour with with some additional surprises and opportunities for advocacy and and networking It will be awesome to see our colleagues and and students all together again!
This year also will be full of opportunities to reengage with OPTA! We are putting together a a a a roadmap of sorts to help our members and potential members to see all of the initiatives programs groups and opportunities for you to get the most out of your membership We know that membership is personal and means something different to to each of us We hope this tool has
The OPTA DEI committee is reviewing our policies and procedures as as well as as our bylaws to to to make changes to to to the language to to to be more inclusive There is a a a a bylaw change that you will be voting on this spring This group is is is dynamic and committed to assuring we are promoting diversity in our our practices and and events and and that our our language and intentions are clear that we want to to include and welcome all of our colleagues to to be part of the OPTA As we continue to push through this pandemic know that OPTA is here and a a a resource for you as as well as as a a a a a a place to be among friends and colleagues I hope to to see you return to to our conference in April! Our State Affairs committee is renewing our commitment to rebuilding our PAC fund This helps us support candidates and and our advocacy efforts for for our Fair Co-Pay Bill that was recently reintroduced in the Ohio House This bill is is an essential first step in in improving access to our services for patients with very high co-pays We know this isn’t a a complete fix but it would be a a significant first step in in helping our patients get the the care they
need without the financial burden of high copays The bill would establish our copay copay at the level of a a a a primary care provider OPTA | | March 2022 | | 3
