Ethics Committee Report Lisa Kohler, PT – Chair
In October 2018, we asked OPTA members via the newsletter to participate in a survey related to hot topics in ethics to present at the Annual Conference . First, we want to thank the members that responded! Here is a snapshot of the results:

Based on the results of the survey, we decided to present on three of the four top choices . We did not choose billing and reimbursement this time because we could easily spend an entire 90 minutes on that topic alone . Based on our findings, it looks like we know what we will be submitting for the 2019 Annual Conference based on your feedback .
Are our patients tweeting about us? Making Facebook comments? How can we avoid HIPPA violations related to social media? How do we handle patients recording us? How do we handle inappropriate patient sexual behavior? And finally, in this era of “Me Too” are we obtaining appropriate consent to touch our patients? We would also love for you to submit your questions to us ahead of time so we can continue to make this presentation focused on what you as members what
to learn .
If you would like to submit questions or share a real- life scenario for our Annual Conference presentation, please email them to me . We’re looking forward to seeing you in Columbus in April!
