Research Committee Report Abraham Lee, PT, PhD and Andrew Raschke, PT, DPT, OCS – Co-Chairs
The Research Committee had an exciting 2018 and is looking forward to achieving even more in 2019 . We would like to welcome our new leader, Andrew Raschke, PT, DPT, OCS, who will be serving as the clinical co-chair of the committee . He will be replacing Dawn Westfall, PT . Dawn has served as co-chair for the past eight years . Her organization and attention to detail have helped the committee become what it is today . The Research Committee graciously thanks Dawn for her dedicated service as co-chair and looks forward to her continued contributions as an active member of the group .
In 2018 the Research Committee started a quarterly newsletter delivered by email to OPTA members in order to highlight relevant research material with a focus on research being conducted in Ohio . Please look for our newsletter in upcoming emails . The Committee has also started a list for researchers in the state of Ohio to add their interests and location . We hope to facilitate communication between individuals with similar interests . You can add your information to the list by visiting OhioPT .org/page/Research .
At the fall conference, OPTimize, the Research Committee awarded funds to three grant applicants . Congratulations to the winning researcher Lucinda Bouillon for her project “Assessment of a 10 week exercise program wearing unstable over-the-shoe device versus foam surface among people with Parkinson's disease .” Grant funds were also awarded to

to meeting each candidate at Transform 2019: OPTA’s Annual Conference . Voting will be online and begin after Annual Conference . I would like to thank the members that took time to submit recommendations for office and to those that
Mitchell Selhorst for his study titled “The Impact of Psychosocial Factors on Adolescents with Anterior Knee Pain,” and to Alysha Walter to research the “Impact of Inpatient Physical Therapy Intervention on Adults with Cystic Fibrosis .”
It is not too soon to start considering whether you want to be the next researcher funded by the OPTA Research Committee Grant in 2019! We will begin accepting proposals May 1, 2019 . The deadline for submission is August 1, 2019 . Grant application forms and submission instructions will be available at OhioPT .org/page/ Research . All OPTA members are eligible for the grant award .

consented to serve our association . Our state has so many qualified and dedicated individuals. For those
that were not slated, I encourage you to remain active with the OPTA and please try again for the next election cycle . Lastly, I would like to thank the members of the OPTA Nominating Committee on their hard work and diligence in slating this year’s candidates – it has been an honor to work with each of you . So now it’s almost election time! Let yourself be heard and cast your vote!
