Give Power and Energy to Solutions
As I write my rst President’s address, I can’t help but re ect on the great past-presidents I’ve worked with throughout my time at OPTA. The rst of those was Ron Kleinman. He demonstrated kindness, compassion, and strong listening skills. He is also a great example of an entrepreneur and makes an impeccable cheesecake! My next interactions were with Betsy Fillmore who was also my roommate through many HOD meetings She is so dedicated to the profession, has great perspective
and a service heart unlike anyone I know. Next came Jonathan Cooperman, who was president when we nally achieved Direct Access. Jonathan is smart, has a killer sense of humor and integrity beyond reproach. He pulled us through a very dif cult time. Following Jonathan was Jeanine Gunn, who I also had the pleasure of working with at MSJ. Jeanine is brilliant and very ambitious—she sets high expectations for herself and those around her and gets excellent results She was just elected to APTA treasurer Finally, Anthony DiFilippo, who just ended his term at OPTA by being elected to the APTA BOD! Getting to mentor with Anthony taught me so much about negotiation, looking at varying perspectives, and valuing the team
We are in a great position, thanks to these fabulous leaders, to continue
to move this profession forward, advance our practice, grow our membership and transform Ohio We need your help to continue our momentum Together, we have had great success, such as maintaining our licensure board My hope is that the same will be true for HB 131. I think we are also in a great position
to help with the opioid crisis through our #ChoosePT efforts and improve awareness of our role in pain management With you and the dedication of our fabulous team at OPTA, both staff and elected leaders, I am optimistic that we can accomplish great things Please feel free to contact me if you have ideas to share or would like to be involved. As one of the great motivators, Tony Robbins says,” “Identify your problems, but give your power and energy to solutions ” That’s what I plan to do as your president!
