ANNUAL CONFERENCE WRAP-UP
tember 2017 | OPTA
Marie Ruskin – OPTA Member Engagement Specialist
We are rounding out the year on a
high note! With Advocacy Day and Annual Conference bringing in record numbers, we have never been prouder of our association Advocacy Day 2017 took place on March 23 in downtown Columbus with our members visiting their State House Representatives and State Senators to discuss their opposition to House Bill 49 and to advocate in support of House Bill 131 Registration for this event came in at just over 220 which
was an increase of 28% from 2016 We believe that our members advocacy efforts are the reason the OTPTAT board consolidation did not happen. Way to go!
Following Advocacy Day, Annual Conference kicked off on Friday, March 24 Our Annual Conference was held at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel and went through Saturday, March 25 This year’s conference topic was, “In the Clinic and Beyond: Enhancing Your Role in the Physical Therapy Profession ” Conference attendees – PTs, PTAs
and students – had the opportunity to attend a variety of sessions, including such topics as Acute Care, Pediatric Concussion Research, Pro-Bono Physical Therapy and leadership within the Physical Therapy profession, just
to name a few With more than 16 sessions to choose from, attendees were sure to nd something that sparked their interest
And of course, after the last session ended on Friday, attendees were invited be a part of the Student Challenge with the University of Cincinnati taking home the trophy and bragging rights for one year. We also brought back the popular Oxford Debate, which was a fun event for all who attended. We look forward to bringing that back again for 2018!
Speaking of 2018 Annual Conference, mark your calendars because Annual Conference will be taking
place on April 13-14, 2018 in Columbus, with the focus
on, “Leveraging Technology in Physical Therapy Practice: Application, Translation, Innovation.” We will be back at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel and hope to see you all there
