Completed the Ohio Fire Executive program, a three-year national award winning executive development program
through the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association at the Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business.
Awarded “2013 Shelby County Firefighter of the Year”. Received award from County Firefighters association based upon my efforts spearheading regional committee on county radio upgrades and regional narrow banding coordination.
Developed and implemented departmental “Officer Candidate School”. Established and implemented the 40-hour course structured around a curriculum of executive leadership, self-analysis, and leading change. Utilizing an interactive classroom setting the course was designed to enhance and refine the leadership qualities of Candidates by identifying the various required organizational “bench strengths” for potential leaders.
Coordinating the Implementation of “West Central Ohio First Responder Training Center”. Working with Ohio Fire Marshall, Ohio EMS and various regional stakeholders to address regional first responder training needs; specifically establishing a NFPA compliant regional training center, burn building/props and community college level fire science programs/ curriculum for west central Ohio.
Created and executed “Competency-Based” Training Program. Redesigned department training program from mandated continuing education to “competency-based” skill development. Establishing training objectives that utilize standard performance measures to evaluate competencies. Integrating new training program into department’s record management system.
Multi-Year Presenter - Ohio Fire & Rescue Officer Development Conference.
• 2013 “Blue Shirt to White Shirt” Course designed to enhance and refine the leadership qualities by developing
“bench strengths” of newly promoted Officers/Officer. Curriculum beyond traditional management skills...items such
as leading change, presenting a professional image and understanding personal strengths and weaknesses.
• 2014 “Quick Start Guide to Officer Development” Course shared material organizations could use to cost-
effectively design and implement a leadership “boot camp” for your newly promoted Officers/Officer Candidates. • 2015 “Developing Conversational Skill Sets... Balancing Leadership and Organizational Culture”. Course
included applying conversational tools into Officer Development series... specifically presenting and reinforcing the proper approach/tools for difficult conversations. Finding the proper balance... being persuasive, not abrasive.

City of Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services, 2010- Present
Fire Chief, 2010-Present. The Fire Chief is the chief fire official in the City, responsible for planning and directing the activities of the Department of Fire & Emergency Services. The Chief ensures that the employees of the Department properly and productively suppress fires, offer emergency medical services, respond to natural and man-made disasters, and educate the public and inspect properties to prevent fires from occurring.
City of Kettering Fire Department, 1993- 2010
Shift Commander/Battalion Officer, 2008-2010. Senior Staff management position managing daily operations of the Fire Department. Function as Incident Manager at emergency scenes, supervise Fire Station Commanders and perform administrative and other duties as required.
