Astronomy Programmes
Promoting science communication/ popularisation activities within and outside the school through a network of science
clubs is one of the niche programmes of VP. The capacities of the clubs are being built through skill upgradation training, awareness camps, and hands-on science workshops throughout the country. This network of science clubs is popularly known as VIPNET (Vigyan Prasar Network). Various state education departments, Tribal departments and organisations like Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) are now partners in this initiative. Many new programmes like the campaign on Annular Solar Eclipse, Astronomy Festivals, Zero Shadow Day, and felicitation of VIPNET members were organised
duringtheperiodunderreport.Someimportant highlights are:
Felicitation Programme for upgraded VIPNET Clubs
Vigyan Prasar organised a felicitation programme for upgraded VIPNET clubs of 2018 and 2019 at Arpit Institute, Rajkot on 12 and 13 August 2019. A total of about 160 upgraded clubs from all across the country had gathered in this two- day programme. Plenary talk on annular solar eclipse was given by the members of Jyotirvidya Parisansthan, Pune to the participants. The programme also featured a poster presentation session by all the upgraded clubs in which they evaluated the work done by other clubs.
