Support for Research in Core Disciplines:
The Core Research Grant is designed to support outstanding research, spanning the widest ambit of science and engineering disciplines.
Supporting Young Researchers: SERB funding programmes – National Post Doctoral Fellowship, Early Career Research Award, Start-up Research Grant and SERB Research Scientists – for early career researchers and young scientists underpin an integrated view of talent identification and proactive support.
Programmes for Inclusion and Diversity: SERB operates a special scheme titled Empowerment and Equity Opportunities for Excellence in Science (SERB-EMEQ). SERB-EMEQ provides research support to scientists belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes in emerging and frontier areas of science and engineering, thus integrating contributions to national science and technology development. The need to expand R&D base by providing sustained research opportunities is addressed by special schemes such as Teacher Associateship for Research Excellence (SERB- TARE) and Mathematical Research Impact Centric Support (SERB-MATRICS).
Supporting Disruptive Research and Translation: Scientific and Useful Profound Research Advancement (SERB-SUPRA) is
a funding paradigm designed for supporting transformative and disruptive research concepts. SERB-TETRA (TEchnologyTRanslation Award) is a new scheme for catalysing technology translation through core research programmes of SERB. TETRA will challenge scientists executing SERB grants to establish synergistic collaboration with industrial partners to extend the knowledge
chain and develop technologies to TRL-5 and beyond. Fund for Industrial Research Engagement (SERB-FIRE) is a flagship scheme of the SERB, designed to boost academia-industry linkage and to undertake research of industrial relevance.
The scheme supports and strengthens academic wisdom to address and solve problems affecting our society, together with industry cooperation.
