Technology Laboratory: The technology laboratory consists of incubator units that will host technology startups/entrepreneurship to carry out activities translating lab-level findings to market- ready products either by CeNS researchers on their own or in collaboration with other academic institutions and industries from within India.
Greenhouse: A Technology Business Incubator Project, named the ‘Greenhouse’ uniquely emulates a not-for-profit entity for potential nanotechnology business incubation, it is funded by Nano
Mission, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Its mission is to nurture nascent ideas and concepts, incubate lab-level science, and translation to commercial products of high social relevance and impact.
Prototype Gallery: The Gallery, attracts a number of academic and industry visitors alike. Some of the in-house inventions displayed in the Gallery include, Luminescens-based sensors, Graphene- coated glass, Anisotropic organogel, Highly robust MoO2 nanostructures, Fog on-demand: electrically switchable transparency, Breath RHgram, Triboelectric Generator, Instant hot packs, Self- heating cover slips, Flexible touch display, Invisible EMI shield, Triboelectric facemask, Face shield with social distancing alarm reminder, Metal oxide Ag based antimicrobial facemask, Disinfecting solution, and Translucent - transparent switching microfluidic glass.
ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
PhD Programmes: CeNS offers PhD programmes in the area of nano and soft matter sciences. The Centre is recognized by Mangalore University and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) for Ph D registration.
Course Work and Seminars: CeNS offers
a variety of credit courses to PhD students which includes uniquely designed courses on intellectual property rights, lab safety measures apart from the mandatory courses on nano
and soft matter science. The students during their PhD tenure present a variety of seminars,
