PIONEERING A NEW FUTURE 67
ACHIEVEMENTS
Knowledge Generation: The institute inspires scientists to publish their research in
peer reviewed international high-impact journals, which
is reflected in their recent publication record in reputed
journals like Energy and Environment, Nature Communication, ACS Nano, and Journal of American Chemical Society. The faculty, at INST, has
made significant scientific contributions of high international standards as reflected by the quality, as well as number of research publications from INST in the last seven years. INST has acquired the overall 39th rank based on the Nature Index 2019.
Technologies Developed & Patents Filed: In a short span of time, INST has developed several technologies including a cost-efficient and scalable method for grapheme-based integrated on-chip micro-supercapacitor, which is a miniaturized electrochemical storage device; a 'Nano-Spray Gel' that could be administered on-site for treatment of frostbite injuries and heal the wound; a novel low-cost topical haemostatic device to address uncontrolled bleeding, purification devices for water and air, respectively.
Industry Collaborations and Funding:
Technology development is an integral part
of INST’s mandate being a relatively newer institute with dynamic faculty members; INST has associated itself with a number of industrial partners. Such activities are targeted towards development of indigenous technologies to India’s benefit. INST has collaborations with several sectors, like NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, SRF Limited and CS Zircon Pvt. Ltd.
Human Resource Development: On the academic front, INST offers PhD and postdoctoral fellowships to students as part of its mandate to develop skilled human resources.
 VISION
To emerge as globally competitive India's foremost research institution in nano science and technology and to contribute to the society through applications of nano science and nanotechnology in the field of agriculture, medicine, energy and environment.
MISSION
• To be a world-class research institution
by carrying out cutting-edge research
through outstanding scientists from
different branches of science and
engineering, encouraging them to carry out their individual scientific research to be published in the best journals along with their mandate to jointly work on interdisciplinary projects to develop devices/technologies based on nano science and technology.
• To encourage all aspects of nano science and nanotechnology with major thrust on the following areas: agricultural nanotechnology, sensors, medical nanotechnology, nanotechnology based solutions for energy and environment.
• The ultimate goal is to make a difference to society through nano science and technology.
