Moon comes in between the Sun and the Earth in a straight line and
in the same orbital plane. At this rare alignment point, regions on the Earth’s surface where shadow of the Moon
important aspect which makes it unique is the fact that on every new moon, the Moon comes in between the Sun and the Earth, but still, there is no solar eclipse. Have you wondered, why?
There are four types of solar eclipses (i) Total solar eclipse; (ii) Annular solar eclipse; (iii) Hybrid solar eclipse; and (iv) Partial solar eclipse. The Earth revolves around the Sun and the Moon revolves around the Earth. The orbits of Earth and Moon on which they revolve around the Sun are elliptical and hence the Earth sometimes comes close to the Sun and sometimes goes far away from the Sun. Similarly, the Moon also comes near and goes farther from the Earth
in approximately every 27.32 days Because of this, we see the variation in their angular size. In the process, on the day of the New Moon, if the Moon is at the closest approach to the Earth and Sun-Moon-Earth comes in a straight line and the same orbital plane, then
we will have a Total Solar Eclipse. Likewise, on the New Moon, if the Moon is at the farthest approach to the Earth and Sun-Moon-Earth comes in a straight line and the same orbital plane,
HOW SOLAR ECLIPSE OCCURS?
Asolar eclipse occurs when the falls one can see the solar eclipse. The
How a Solar Eclipse Takes Place
There is simple geometry behind this; the orbital plane of the Moon is inclined by 5 degrees to the orbital plane of the Earth around the Sun. Thus, the shad- ow of the Moon mostly passes above or below the Earth.
  TYPES OF SOLAR ECLIPSES:
then we will have an Annular Solar Eclipse. On the other hand, Hybrid Solar Eclipse is the rarest event in which some parts of the Earth will wit- ness the annular solar eclipse, and some parts will witness the total solar eclipse. This is because in some parts of the Earth umbral shadow of the Moon falls and in some parts antumbral shadow of the Moon falls. Partial Solar Eclipse happens in the region where penumbral shadow of the Moon falls on the Earth.
