SUCCESS STORIES
Current Research Activities: After obtaining
the deemed-to-be-university status, IACS has reincarnated itself into a research university. The academic platform of IACS has been reconstructed and organized into six different schools with the
focus on multidisciplinary sciences, technology, engineering and medicine (STEM): School of Chemical Sciences (SCS); School of Physical Sciences (SPS); School of Biological Sciences (SBS); School
of Materials Sciences (SMS); School of Applied
and Interdisciplinary Sciences (SAIS); School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences (SMCS).
Current Teaching Programmes: Teaching had been an integral part of the association
right from its inception. In 2006, the Integrated MSc-PhD curriculum started in the Department of Chemistry and was
subsequently followed by the Department of Physical and Biological Sciences. Under the deemed-to-be-university structure,
IACS overhauled teaching activities and successfully initiated four year BS by
Research, five year integrated BS-
MS, and MS-integrated PhD programmes
with de novo curricula commensurate with the recommendations of the National Education Policy of the Government of India, 2020. Keeping an eye on the current needs of the society, IACS
is focused on offering unique technology based teaching programmes for MS/Integrated MS-PhD degrees in the emerging disciplines of physical, chemical, biological, applied and interdisciplinary, materials and mathematical and computational sciences with specializations in soft matter,
drug designs and delivery, nanomaterials, green chemistry, energy and sustainability, computer & data sciences among others. Additional courses on scientific ethics, communication skills, and history of Indian science, as integral part of any scientific education system in India, are also offered.
Technical Research Centre: IACS has launched
a Technical Research Centre funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, where emphasis is laid on applying fundamental science for translation research and technology development that may have direct societal impact. The centre aims to utilize wide-
