Description and Functionality
CMC stim is a multi-channel, portable, hand-held, stimulator for Functional Electrical Stimulation of up to 4 muscles simultaneously. The device can be used for therapy to exercise the muscles, or it can be used for functional purposes. It can restore function to muscles paralyzed by stroke, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, etc. CMC stim, can replace many desktop stimulation devices used in clinics. Since it is handheld and rechargeable, it is suitable for home use. The device is wireless, has a rechargeable battery and can be programmable by therapists. It can be programmed for different pulse shapes, charge balancing pulses, etc.
State-of-the-art
A special novelty of CMC Stim is its ability to stimulate denervated muscle and has user adjustable parameters and can be used either on a computer with a cable connection or a mobile phone with wireless interface; such devices are not available anywhere.
Stage of Development
The device is fully functional and has been subjected to extensive pilot testing in clinical settings. Clinical ready versions are under preparation and are being tested for robustness.
