Dear Members, fellow Showmen,
industry friends and readers,
As we turn the corner into the second half of the year, I
am pleased to acknowledge the official commencement
of the Victorian Agricultural Show circuit — a time of
great significance for our Guild and the wider Showmen’s
community. This annual circuit is not only a core part
of our operational calendar, but a vital tradition that
connects generations of show people, rural communities,
and regional economies.
The weeks ahead will see many of us hitting the road, bringing colour, energy,
and entertainment to towns right across Victoria. It’s a reminder of what makes
our industry so special — our ability to bring joy, build community connections,
and create unforgettable experiences.
This season, I encourage all members to continue working cooperatively and
professionally, both with each other and with our show society partners. A
successful circuit depends on unity, clear communication, and mutual respect.
Please also remember the critical role of our Guild Delegates at each show. They
are there to represent your interests, liaise with committees, and help maintain
a fair and safe working environment. Your support of them is vital — together,
we are stronger.
Looking ahead, I wish to draw your attention to the upcoming 2025–2026
Committee of Management elections. This is an important process in shaping
the future direction of our Guild. Nominations close on Tuesday, 24th
September 2025, and I strongly encourage any interested members who meet
eligibility criteria to step forward and nominate. Ballots will open on Tuesday,
15th October 2025. All members are urged to participate in the democratic
process — your vote helps shape the leadership that will represent you.
I would like to extend a warm invitation to all members to attend our upcoming
General Meeting, which will be held in Shepparton on Thursday, 9th October at
1.00pm. Your attendance and participation are greatly valued. These meetings
provide an important platform for discussion, decision-making, and the sharing
of member concerns. I encourage you to come along, have your say, and help
strengthen the voice of the Guild.
Lastly, I would like to
express my sincere
condolences to Jean
Needham’s family and
friends. My family and
I were saddened by the
news of her passing.
Thank you once again
for your ongoing
commitment to our
industry and each
other. Wishing everyone
a safe, prosperous, and
enjoyable show season
ahead.
Safe Travels!
Elwin Bell Jnr.
