Dear Members, fellow Showmen,
industry friends and readers,
Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, it’s a time for us
to reflect on the past and look forward to an exciting and
promising year ahead.
Sadly, we have lost more of our community in the last
year, and I wish to express my condolence to all their
families and friends.
On behalf of the Victorian Showmen’s Guild, I want to extend my heartfelt
gratitude to every one of you for your unwavering support, hard work, and
dedication to our craft. You are the backbone of the industry, and together,
we make it thrive.
Just reflecting on 2024 and a highlight was the Ballarat Family Carnival,
staged for one year only as the 2024 Ballarat Show was unable to be held
due to showground redevelopment. The event was well run and highly
successful and demonstrates what can be achieved when we work together
with a common goal.
Our annual calendar is brimming with spectacular Shows and events, which
showcase the diverse talents and creativity of our members. As I’m writing
this report, we are preparing for the Royal Canberra Show which is a significant
event in the ACT calendar.
We are delighted to announce that Elle Bell and Leyton Osborne-Little have just
welcomed the arrival of their beautiful baby girl Sunday Belle today. I’d also like
to congratulate Carly and Wade Watkins on the arrival of their baby girl Jarra and
Georgia Miller and Jeremy Cheyne’s baby Knox born earlier this month.
From the ACT, we’ll start to head towards Melbourne for the 2025 Moomba
Festival and then onwards to Sydney for the Royal Easter Show, which by then
we’ll be well into a third of the year.
In the coming weeks every member will receive a copy of our code of conduct.
Please take the time to review the code and adhere to its content.
NHVR ongoing and after our recent update we hope to have some more
to report. It does feel like the never-ending story in the office; however,
we feel like we are feeling closer to a result.
As we look ahead, we also recognise the importance of coming together
as a community. The Victorian Showmen’s Guild remains committed to
supporting its members in navigating the challenges of the modern
amusement industry landscape.
In 2025, we look forward to welcoming new members, embracing innovation,
and continuing to uphold the values of tradition, camaraderie, and
professionalism that define travelling showmen and the Victorian
Showmen’s Guild.
Let’s work together to make 2025 a year of growth, success, and, most
importantly, fun.
Here’s to the next chapter in our incredible journey!
Warm regards,
Elwin Bell Jnr.
