Message from the Editor
Welcome to the January – March 2019 edition of the Outdoor Showman magazine. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy New Year.
The Victorian Showmen’s Guild office has been busy, launching into 2019 with annual Guild Member fees and Outdoor Showman subscriptions due for renewal in January.
Time has certainly already flown by! It is difficult to believe that we are just a few days of summer remaining.
Melbourne’s event calendar continues to be full, with many major events to look forward to in March, including the Moomba Festival over the Labour Day long weekend, 8-11 March 2019.
The Victorian Showmen’s Guild will again be represented at the 2019 Amusement Device Stakeholder’s Forum, to be held on the 12th March 2019. As this is an important forum, we would welcome any industry related input or suggested that can be conveyed at this event.
Victoria has a few Shows left on the run including Warragul, Tallangatta, Wodonga and Pakenham. Let’s hope the sun keeps shining and the Shows have great attendances. Safe and successful Shows for all!
Foster Show is experiencing a year of recess in 2019 and has indicated that with some new committee members and more time to plan, the Show will return in 2020.
The Cohuna Show has also announced a reduced program in 2019, offering only horse, dog and floral events.
The Show Society has requested that Members keep the Cohuna Show on their run in 2020, as the Society plans to work hard to bring the Show back bigger and better than ever!
The Cohuna Agricultural Society expressed their appreciation to all the Showmen who have supported them over the years.
Planning in underway for the Bendigo Easter Festival 2019.
The office will be closed for the Easter break from Friday 19th April – Monday 29th April 2019, as this period also includes the national day of remembrance for Anzac Day.
Wishing you all a very happy Easter with your friends and family. Safe Travels!
If you are planning on participating at this year’s festival please ensure that you refer to the Show Circuit Information on page 6 for all the relevant information, including key information relating to deadlines for insurance policies to be submitted to the office prior to Monday 11 March 2019, working with children check requirements, bump in and event information.
