Thank you for the opportunity again to write to your members.
I do sincerely hope everyone and their families are safe during these COVID times in Victoria. This second wave has really hit hard many families and it will certainly be challenging to say the least.
I would like to raise these two topics with the Victoria Guild members;
1. Coronavirus (COVID-19) What you need to keep doing
• Practice good hygiene.
• Maintain physical distancing, keep at least 1.5 metres away from others.
What is Coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. Coronavirus (COVID-19) is the most recently discovered coronavirus.
A coronavirus infection can cause mild to severe respiratory illness.
Symptoms can range from mild illness to pneumonia. Affected people may experience:
• fever
• chills or sweats
• cough
• sore throat
• shortness of breath
• runny nose
• loss of sense of smell
In certain circumstances headache, muscle soreness, stuffy nose, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea may also be considered.
Employers have a duty to provide and maintain, so far as is reasonably practicable, a working environment that is safe and without risks to the

It’s a great opportunity to review and ensure that all trailers and ‘plant’ are roadworthy for the future events etc.

Section 23 Duties of employers to other persons
(1) An employer must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that persons other than employees of the employer are not exposed to risks to their health or safety

Section 24 Duties of self-employed persons to other persons
(1) A self-employed person must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that persons are not exposed to risks to their health or safety arising from the conduct of the undertaking of the
• Understand the risk and symptoms.
• Help continue to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) by getting tested, even if you have mild symptoms.
• Stay home and avoid contact if you’re feeling unwell.
• Take care wherever you go, assume others may be carrying the virus.
2. Plant
On review of notices issued to operators by Worksafe Inspectors over last season it became apparent that ‘plant’(whichincludestrailers)notices were questioned and not understood completely.
The ‘Roadworthiness’ of a trailer, whether it be an amusement ride specific trailer, showbag trailer, food/ drink trailer or any other type of trailer can be enforced by Worksafe (and other regulators such as VicPolice& VicRoads)
During their use, vehicles/trailers (Plant) can deteriorate or be altered from their original form and in some cases this can become a hazard to road users and others. Although the owner of a vehicle is responsible
