He looks in his beer, a smile will appear,
As he thinks of his mates of yesteryear,
The deeds they did and many the schemes, To get it all going, the showground machine.
He looks at his grandkids, showmen of now, Smiles with contentment, God he feels proud,
A chip of the ol’ block, they won’t let him down, And that he’ll take with him as they put him down.
Let’s think of the old ones, now long time ago, Their names are too many to quote in this song, But we will remember as time rolls on by,
And we’ll meet agin on the run in the sky.
So fill up your glasses, let’s toast them again,
For Showman are born, they’re never made,
And they stand out like giants in the showground trade.

Though her smile has gone foreever and her hands we cannot touch
we shall never lose the memory
of the Mum we loved so much.
