Dear Members, fellow Showmen, industry friends and readers,
Greetings from Emerald! Winter has arrived!
Is it just me, or does it feel like this year is going so quickly!
We are at the mid-way mark of the year; and the Emerald Show is in full swing.
A long hot Moomba this year, with temperatures soaring into the 40’s forcing the City of Melbourne to cancel the parade. The warm weather impacted other community events and festivals, cancelling, and taking all the necessary precautions.
The Bendigo Easter Festival was a great success, lots of sunshine and perfect weather for the duration of the Easter period. Thank you to the delegates and members who work closely with the City of Greater Bendigo to deliver this annual event.
By all accounts the Royal Easter Show launched the 2024 capital shows in fine fashion. Overall, it was a good show, with good attendances and weather. I am happy to report that from my experience this trend has continued from New South Wales, through to Queensland to date.
The AALARA convention and trade show has just concluded for another year; with plenty of industry news and representation. I’d like to thank Marjorie Chant for attending and representing the Guild at the conference and trade show.
Looking forward, we are working on the NHVR national notice; which is slowly progressing. The VSG and NHVR hosted a training session last week to assist with using the online portal. The session was informative and hopefully helpful to those in attendance. We have the opportunity to coordinate further sessions if member wish. Please contact the office if this is of interest to you.
Our 2024 election timetable has been set, please refer to page 5 for all the information and dates. If you wish to nominate and need nomination papers, please contact the office, and ensure you submit in accordance with the rules.
The VAS convention will be held at the end of June in Kaniva.
As always the VSG will have representatives at the convention to meet with Show Societies and discuss their up and coming Shows.
In closing, I am delighted to formally announce the arrival of a new baby Bell. Roy and Caitlin welcome their beautiful baby girl Emerald, born on the 29th of May, in Emerald. We are all very excited with the new edition to the family.
