Dear Members, Friends and Readers,
Well here we are in April 2020 and our Industry has come to a standstill. Our entire country has come to a standstill.
After such devastating times over the Christmas holiday period and no time to recover from the setbacks, we can appreciate and be thankful that we got a few Shows
in such as Canberra, Robertson, Goulburn, Cessnock, Maitland, Newcastle, Berwick, Warragul, Wonthaggi and Moomba.
While we were all getting prepared to cruise on in and continue our normal lifestyle with Show runs, we began getting cancelled out from Friday 13th March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The only one other time this has similarly happened to our entertainment industry is when it was cancelled due to the Second World War in 1939 to 1945.
It is no doubt that every single one of us is struggling with this unfamiliar life that is becoming our new normal. However, it is important to keep reminding yourself and all those around you that this will not last forever.
We are all in this together and need to continue working together and supporting each other in any way we can. Stay in touch and stick together.
Keep following and stay up to date with the FaceBook page ‘the show must go on’, it has plenty of informative posts and also just positive posts which is helpful. A massive THANK YOU to its founder and all its contributors.
With the hard work going into getting support for our vehicle registrations and the like, it will be incredible if we are able to get some benefits from that amazing work.
We are hopeful that our Show Societies will overcome and recover from this pandemic and know that the Showmen’s Guild will support them in any way we can.
We are staying positive and looking forward to seeing all of our fellow Showmen in the near future.
